‘The Outdoor Private Table’ at Kalm Kitchen

We invite you to come and experience ‘The Outdoor Private Table’ at Kalm Kitchen. Open to bookings from 12th April 2021, you will have exclusive use of this beautifully styled outdoor dining room at our headquarters in Puttenham. Designed for a gathering of six people, this intimate space, where you’ll enjoy the undivided attention of your personal chef and waiter, will be yours for the entire night.

Make your way through the doors of our tucked-away, countryside location and into your own private dining room. As you take a seat at our chef’s table, we will serve you with champagne and a selection of canapés. Then, with its view into the kitchen, you will be able to watch on as your own three-course meal is prepared. Kalm Kitchen is known for its creative, luxury events and now you can have a taste of our imaginative food, with a set menu starring dishes made from the best seasonal ingredients.

Magical touches for special occasions

As well as providing wine to accompany your meal, additional luxury items can be arranged in advance if you’re celebrating a special occasion. From floral bouquets to cocktails, birthday cakes or personalised balloons, our team will be on hand to make sure each detail is the way you want it and that every aspect of your evening has a magical touch.

What better way to start proceedings or gather everyone together the day after than with a fully loaded bar stacked with a selection of morning treats. Ours combines healthy, sliced fruits with pastries, granola pots, plus fresh breads, with conserves. Throw in salmon and cream cheese bagels, smashed avocado and continental meats and you have the ideal morning mix. Of course, we also provide plenty of coffee to keep your guests non-stop fuelled up and perfectly set for the day.

This impressive, interconnecting display is no ordinary cheese board. Combining height and depth for a wow effect, a luxurious collection of handpicked cheeses, runny honey and fresh breads is served with dried apricots, fresh figs, grapes, wheat wafers, fig chutney and salted almonds. Pretty as a picture, our Perfectly Pink Grazing Platter features an array of iced ring doughnuts, red velvet cupcakes, pink wafers, pink and red macarons and waffles. Live-stream your wedding

Your wedding is a day when you want to gather together your favourite people. But what if it’s not possible for everyone to be in the same room? Current circumstances mean that we’re all re-evaluating how we might meet up and mingle in the future. Thankfully, there are some forward-thinking solutions, such as live-streaming, that mean whether you have older, vulnerable guests such as precious grandparents. Or best friends in far-flung places, they can ALL join in your day using the wonders of technology.

Kalm Kitchen has worked with family-run Farnham Sound and Light many times in the past. Now we’ve been looking at how we can make your proceedings accessible to everyone with a range of live-streaming packages. There’s the option of an intimate set-up with a HD camera and microphones linked up to Zoom video conferencing software for up to 100 virtual guests. Or, you can upgrade right up to a full technical crew including sound engineer, making your wedding a totally expert production.

And what about making your guests feel included in every aspect of proceedings? Jen and the team at Kalm Kitchen are working hard to come up with ideas – such as bespoke goodie boxes – so that everyone near or far can share the magic of that special day.

Chelsea Physic Garden

Kalm Kitchen is thrilled to have been recently approved as a supplier at the beautiful Chelsea Physic Garden. This historic garden wedding venue is London’s oldest botanic garden, occupying four acres of land on the edge of the Thames.

Tucked away beside the River Thames and nestled behind walls, the garden has a special, secret feel due to its location. In fact, it’s situated on one of Chelsea’s smartest streets, a buzzing part of London that still maintains a village feel.


With a rich past of providing medicinal plants for apothecaries, today Chelsea Physic Garden is a living collection of around 5,000 different edible medicinal and herbal plants. It is also an exceptional venue for all kinds of events. Light, airy and spacious, The Gallery room is an elegant indoor space available to hire throughout the year. With high ceilings, and an outlook to the iconic gardens, The Gallery can accommodate all types of events, including weddings for up to 90 guests.

Meanwhile, the Garden itself is a beautiful botanical setting with a large marquee as an optional hire. A Wedding Ceremony Room is available for up to 70 guests and blessings in the gardens are welcome. 60th Birthday Party

Micklefield Hall Tasting Evening

This February Kalm Kitchen worked alongside Micklefield Hall to conjure up the latest of our regular tasting evenings. The intimate evening – offered to all couples planning their wedding at the Hertfordshire venue – is a showcase for our menus. But it also gives couples a chance to gather plenty of creative inspiration and imagine how their plans in this special space will come to life.

Our team was there to provide advice and get the creative ball rolling for our brides and grooms. This includes all the important touches – such as food, flowers and photography. Meanwhile our couples are free to ask questions and get inspiration on how to make the most of the beautiful venue.

Creative collaborations

This time we teamed up with talented creative Lou Paper, who provided the gorgeous, hand-finished details. Personalised place cards were placed on dusky pink linens and demonstrated how a simple colour palette can weave a theme throughout a wedding day.

Andrew Flemming styled the venue with some incredible blooms. Potted plants and succulents were used to dress the table, interspersed with some early seasonal spring bulbs. As well as table decorations and floral details to show off the food, he created stunning wall and ceiling displays.

Music for the evening came courtesy of The Collective Band – a group of talented and experienced session musicians who are masters at making an event come to life. And finally, photographer Jack Ladenburg captured the proceedings on camera for us.

Food and drink inspiration

At Kalm Kitchen, we relish the opportunity to serve up long-established favourite dishes as well as new concepts on our menu. We kicked off the evening with a tasty selection of canapés, featuring treats such as

  • Monkfish bites with coriander and onion seed crème fraiche
  • Marinated lamb skewers with minted yoghurt
  • Pork belly on creamy apple dauphinoise, with crackling and apple sauce

Also on the menu was our much-loved Mediterranean Platter. Seared Scallops on sweetcorn purée with toasted corn and Parma ham, and Onion and goats cheese tatin with charred goat’s cheese were other highlights.

For dessert it was our Colonial Patisserie Bar. This new take on a much-loved dessert choice showed how imaginative styling can give your food the wow factor. Alongside the Patisserie Bar was our delicious sharing dessert – Summer Berry Pavlova. A feast for the eyes and also packed with bright, summery flavours.

Our happy couples left with plenty of new inspiration for their wedding plans and it was great to hear back afterwards. They told us that not only had the evening been hugely enjoyable, it had also got them even more excited for their wedding days.

Miss Bush Bridal launch

In celebration of its exciting new designer, Anna Kara, Miss Bush Bridal in Ripley held a wonderful welcome launch this February. Kalm Kitchen was delighted to take part in this evening of beautiful styling, good food, music, and of course, fabulous fashion.

The Anna Kara bridal launch party was a celebration of bohemian, relaxed style with a twist of Polish inspiration as a nod to the brand’s heritage. It’s been quite a few years since Kalm Kitchen catered an event at The Chapel (in fact we worked on Miss Bush Bridals’ first ever Chapel event in 2014!) and we loved being back. We were tasked to come up with a menu that reflected the designer’s eastern European roots. As designer Anna Kara is from Krakow and all of the dresses are handmade in Poland, we opted for canapés and cocktails with a Polish-inspired theme. Our team put together a mouthwatering menu of treats, which included the following:

In addition, we created two inviting grazing plates, which stood on display close to the chapel entrance and were just as beautiful as they were delicious. The savoury tray included beetroot hummus with goats’ cream and honey, basil and cashew nut pesto, sweet potato and flatleaf mini falafels. The abundant platter also included salted pretzels, Norbury Blue and Sussex Charmer cheese, pickled baby garden vegetables, homemade oat cakes, black olive ficelle and bilberries, decorated with pretty wildflowers. The sweet version featured brownies, macaroons, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, edible flowers, passionfruit, kiwi, and grapefruit. We also put together a special cocktail for the evening; the Polish Mule, using Belvedere Vodka, elderflower syrup and sparkling ginger beer.

Partying in style

A truly spectacular floral display by Wild Renata Flowers added to the bohemian spirit. Sumptuous florals in shades of muted purple and pink, antique yellows next to velvety deep red, and wild foliage in a rich dark green and burgundy transformed the chapel’s signature arch. Guests were not only treated to a fantastic fashion presentation, but also a relaxed party atmosphere with tunes from Spin Sisters and fun Photobooth from Boomerang Booth.

Milk Street Kitchen

Founded by Cordon Bleu trained pastry chef (and former Kalm Kitchen team member) Ellie Rymer, Milk Street Kitchen specialises in creating beautiful and tasty cakes and pop-up patisseries for weddings and events. Taking inspiration from classic patisserie and the wonderful flavours and colours of the English countryside, Ellie’s cake creations are a sight to behold. We caught up with her to chat about her passion for baking and what’s catching her eye in the world of cake design.

Q// How did you start out in cake making, and is it something you always wanted to do?

I’ve always loved cooking and baking but in 2012 I decided I wanted to make food my career. I left my job in PR to retrain as a pastry chef at Le Cordon Bleu. I loved it and after I graduated I happily began getting requests for wedding cakes from friends and family – that was the unofficial start of Milk Street Kitchen!

Q// What are you most known for, and how would you describe your signature style?

My signature style is natural, bountiful and full of flavour. I specialise in buttercream cakes and use lots of fresh flowers and fruits to dress my cakes as well as other patisserie items such as macarons and meringues.

Q// Who and what inspires you in your work?

I always take inspiration from the clients I work with and their style. I also get a huge amount of inspiration from modern patisserie and foodie fashions. For my flavours, I’m always inspired by seasonal ‘hedgerow’ produce.

Q// How did you come about working with Kalm Kitchen?

I actually first started working with Kalm Kitchen as part of their patisserie team! It was a fantastic place to learn. Everyone at Kalm Kitchen is incredibly professional and has an amazing eye for detail, whether in the kitchen or running events front of house. The creativity and care they bring to weddings are second to none. I feel very lucky to now be one of their recommended suppliers.

Q// What has been the most memorable creation you’ve ever had to come up with?

Towering croquembouches are always pretty memorable. They are a bit of a race against the clock, as I fill the choux buns with flavoured creams and construct the tower with caramel as close to delivery as possible. They are slightly nerve-wracking as well as great fun to make!

Q// What would be your dream event to work on, and what would you create?

My fantasy would be to be commissioned to bake on location for a wedding in a French country house. I’d create a classic buttercream cake accompanied by a bountiful display of macarons, madeleines and chouxquettes.

Q// What is trending right now in the world of cake design?

I think it’s really exciting at the moment as there’s so much variety in the world of cake design, so you really kind find the perfect style for your event. Tall tiers and nice sharp sides are definitely still the way to go but I’m really seeing couples feeling confident about using more texture and colour too, which is exciting.

Q// What advice would you give to couples who are currently choosing a cake or sweet showcase for their big day?

Work with your designer to create something that is perfect for your day. Something that suits the style and feel of your wedding and, most importantly, that you know your guests will enjoy tucking into – after all cake is made for eating!

Q// Got any exciting future plans for Milk Street Kitchen?

Yes! This year I’ll be building on the success of my newsletter which is filled with baking inspiration using the best freshly picked seasonal ingredients – suitable for beginners as well as those wanting to expand the repertoire in the kitchen. Q// And finally, what’s your favourite thing to bake at home?

One of my absolute favourite thing to make are shell shaped madeleines – subtly flavoured with lemon and honey. They are amazing straight from the oven with a really good cup of coffee.
