Gaby & Matt

Who: Gaby & Matt | When: May 2018| Where: Isle of Wight

With a magical, Bohemian theme, mingled with touches of sheer elegance, Gaby and Matt’s marquee wedding was one of the most special and memorable celebrations we had the pleasure to work on this summer. The couple got married at St Peter’s Church on The Isle of Wight and then guests were invited along to the bride’s family home, where a grand, canopied marquee had been specially constructed amidst the pretty meadowland, which bordered the grounds.

Florist Emma Palais had created a bespoke Alice in Wonderland floral gate for the entrance of the marquee, while the interior was decked with flowers and foliage, which reflected the ethereal woodland look. We styled the tables with gorgeous blush pink water glasses, which linked in with the table linens, exquisite floral displays and eclectic mix and match vintage cutlery.

The reception got off to a soulful start as reggae artist Derek Sandy brought all the guests together with his iconic rendition of ‘Welcome to the Isle of Wight’. His reggae roots and engaging performances brought joy and laughter throughout the reception and added a brilliant mood to the day. After a wonderful afternoon of delicious canapés, plenty of fizz and Derek’s accompanying music, guests retreated to the marquee and settled in for a sumptuous wedding breakfast.

The groom’s father had hand-crafted long, wooden serving boards for each table, which were filled with an abundance of flavourful elements for the Middle Eastern Sharing Board starter. Guests then moved onto a main of slow-cooked shin of beef, followed by a tribute to the bride’s favourite dessert – cream, Dulce de Leche and banana served up in tall-stemmed apothecary jars.

Derek Sandy returned later in the evening to pair with band The Reggae Sauce, and meanwhile a kebab stall, laden with more delectable Middle Eastern flavours was tucked into while guests danced the night away under a fairy-lit marquee and the summery, moonlit sky.

The couple fed back with their heartfelt gratitude afterwards with the following words… ‘We cannot thank you enough for everything you did for us over such a special weekend, you were utterly sublime. You and your team were extraordinary and we truly had the best day we could have imagined.’

Grazing Tables

We’re super excited to introduce our all-new grazing table. It takes the idea of eating, mingling and creating magical displays to a whole new level. We’ve fallen in love with this new way of eating. And what’s more, it ensures the food at your celebration has originality, impact, and loads of style!

Think multiple layers laden with sweet sensations such as macarons, mouthwatering brownies and freshly sliced seasonal fruit. Pair it with cheeses and meats drizzled with honeycomb, and serve alongside an  array of various baked breads and crackers. ‘From a visual perspective, the concept of a grazing table works so well, creating a dramatic centrepiece at any celebration,’ says Kalm Kitchen’s Jen Middlehurst. ‘But the real treat is coming up with amazing combinations of flavours and individual elements, which make the most of seasonal ingredients and truly sublime sweet and savoury pairings.’

Would you like to talk to us about a grazing table for your wedding or special party? Get in touch at info@kalmkitchen.co.uk or call us on 01483 813360.

Emma & Will

Who: Emma and Will | When: Saturday 14th July 2018 | Where: Frating Abbey, Colchester

One decision Emma and Will didn’t struggle with when it came to planning their wedding was the location. The Groom’s family’s farm provided the perfect, rustic backdrop for their special day. The reception was hosted on a spectacular raised lawn, while a magical, glass-topped marquee was situated through the trees in the walled garden. A blend of sweet and simple styling in neutral accents of whites and pale botanical greens completed this wedding wonderland.

A traditional double decker bus transported guests from the church to the house where canapés, such as Peking Duck Roll Pancakes and Grilled Halloumi Skewers were circulated on a mix of styled serving platters and rustic cages draped with white roses. Refreshments came in the form of fizz, and also English Elderflower flavoured water set up on a pretty ladder display station.

In honour of the Bride’s home country, New Zealand Lamb was the requested main dish for the wedding breakfast. It was pretty clear how much the Mother of the Bride loved it when she came into the kitchen at the end of the meal and demanded a hug from head chef, Chris. Her words were, ‘I am born in New Zealand and I know my lamb, this was absolutely fantastic, it was so delicious!’

Afterwards, a stunning Patisserie Bar was set up, with a single gold leaf tiered cake created by Fifi Cakery, which sat alongside our delicious potted desserts and decadent chocolate lollipops and macaroons. And the verdict from the happy couple? Quite simply, the Bride and Groom said it was the best day of their lives!

Kalm Kitchen Café

With crisp, autumnal days well on their way, we decided to take a trip down to our Guildford hangout, Kalm Kitchen Café to meet manager Martyna Cawdron and see what the new season has in store….

// Martyna, describe Kalm Kitchen Café to anyone who hasn’t been here before

We’re a small, creative café serving up favourites from breakfast though to barista coffee, lunch, cakes and loads of freshly baked treats. Because we’re independent we’re completely individual and we offer a great range of wholesome, healthy food, including vegan and gluten-free options. All our food is freshly made every day at Kalm Kitchen HQ, or provided by carefully chosen suppliers. We’re also spoilt when it comes to location too – right next to the new Tunsgate Centre and literally in the shadows of the castle.

// You’re known for heavenly cakes! Tell us a few highlights we can expect to find on the counter

Our cakes and bakes are always a real hit with our customers. The selection is plentiful and changes regularly, but you’ll always find a Banana Loaf, Gluten-Free Brownies, hand-rolled KK Energy Balls and – our bestseller – Cookie Dough Brownies. They are something else!

// And what can we look forward to on the breakfast and lunch menus?

Breakfast is a big event at Kalm Kitchen Café! We open our doors at 8am with a fab selection of healthy starts such as freshly pressed smoothies, House Granola and Porridge. Then there are classics such as Eggs on Toast, and a full Kalm Kitchen Café breakfast, plus a vegetarian option. We like to think our Avocado on Toast is a cut above too – freshly made Guacamole with a subtle, spicy kick served up on sourdough. Lunch is a visual treat; we do things differently by laying out all our mains and salads on the counter. Customers love to browse and choose what they fancy. Today, we have for example, Roasted Aubergine, Harissa Roasted Chicken and – my favourite – Falafel with Lemon & Tahini dressing in the mix. And every day there’s a choice of tasty salads too.

// What can we expect to see new on the menu this autumn?

One really exciting addition is our new range of Hotpots. Each week we’ll have two different dishes to choose from, one meat and one vegetarian. We’re kicking off with a really hearty and wholesome Nashville Smoked Pork and Tomato Ragu alongside Apricot & Chickpea Smoked Tomato Stew. But, look out for Malay Chicken Curry, Roasted Root Vegetable & Squash Stew, and Curried Cauliflower, amongst others, in the coming weeks. They’ll all be served up with a choice of two salads on the side. The perfect, filling lunch for the colder weather!

// Anything else special coming up this season?

At Kalm Kitchen Café we have lovely outside spaces at the front and back, so to encourage people to use them all year round we’re providing blankets and hot water bottles to keep customers warm if they choose to eat or enjoy a coffee al fresco. We’re dog friendly – inside and out – but it’s nice if people want to choose to sit outside and watch the world go by, whatever the weather. What could be more cosy on a cold day than drinking a hot chocolate outside wrapped in a blanket? We’ll even ‘pimp’ your hot chocolate with some sweet and tasty additions (and Bailey’s if you’re feeling a bit naughty).

// What are some of the more unusual items on the menu?

Our Lattes are definitely talked about. There’s Charcoal Latte – with activated charcoal powder and date syrup. It’s said to boost your gut health. Or try a Turmeric Latte – also known as Golden Milk, this is a good one for kick-starting your immune system and is believed to be anti-inflammatory. Then there’s Matcha Latte – vibrant green in colour, like a super strong green tea and stacked with antioxidants.

// Any plans to open Kalm Kitchen Café in the evening?

Look out for a weekly Supper Club, coming soon. We’re also available for private hire, so our two levels are a great place to celebrate a special anniversary or host a quirky, intimate function. We’ve had everything from birthdays to baby showers, and school social evenings at Kalm Kitchen Café.

// It’s clearly a busy place to work Martyna. What’s your secret to keeping things ticking along?

My drink is Americano with oat milk, which I try to limit to two a day. And the occasional Cookie Dough Brownie!

Rachel & Alan

Who: Rachel and Alan | Where: Millbridge Court

Some couples spend months (or even years) dreaming up their wedding day. But within two weeks of their engagement, Rachel and Alan had already settled on their venue and just nine weeks later they were exchanging their vows. The venue in question was stunning Millbridge Court in Surrey, and even with such a tiny timeframe to prepare, no details were spared!

The brief from the couple in question was clear and simple – ‘make it fun and informal’, so we decided that sharing food would be the ideal way to get all their guests involved and cut out any unnecessary formalities. After serving up some bite-size canapés in the sunshine, guests were treated to a mix of meze and antipasti boards containing Italian meats, mozzarella, chickpea salad, tabbouleh, hummus and a selection of breads.

For their main course, Rachel and Alan decided on beautifully tender rump of new season lamb. One guest from each table was nominated to collect the meat from the kitchen and carve at their table. The carvers were given aprons and hats to make it all the more fun. And then, as a treat for the eyes and the tummies, our Patisserie Bar provided a sweet sensation with its mix of delectable summery desserts such as Eton Mess and Lemon Posset.

After their whirlwind wedding, the happy couple sent us these extremely kind words…

‘Well what can we say apart from amazing, amazing, amaaaazing!!! From the moment we arrived at Millbridge Court, we knew this was the definitely the place we wanted to get married. It was modern, beautiful, sophisticated and just utter gorgeousness. We had our own ideas from day one of how we wanted our wedding to be and then you jumped aboard and took it that 10 steps further to make it even better! I am a very attention to detail girl, but after meeting you I knew I didn’t have to worry about a thing. You ladies are creative perfectionists. From the sharing starters, to the carve (that was SO much fun – our guests loved it), the patisserie station and oh the cheese board! It was such a unique way to host our guests and bring the fun element to our wedding.

We have been inundated with messages and calls from our guests about the day – amazing food (oh how they loved the food, so many comments on the food), the venue, the service, how fun it was and just generally how it was the perfect day.Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us create our perfect day in such a short space of time. Because of your amazing team you didn’t make me worry once – I had complete confidence that you would deliver. What is also lovely is that you made us feel like our wedding was the most important event when we were liaising with you. The service you provide is truly personal. I have actually named you my little fairies. You ladies just go around with your magic wand sprinkling that magic fairy dust everywhere you go and making everything beautifully perfect!

We had the BEST DAY EVER! With love and thanks, Rachel & Alan’

If you’d like to talk to us about how we can create your dream day – even on a tight timeframe – do get in touch at info@kalmkitchen.co.uk or call us on 01483 813360.

Kent House Knightsbridge

We’re lucky enough to work with some fabulous venues, but when we got a call from Kent House Knightsbridge about partnering up as one of their preferred caterers we jumped at the chance. Situated just a stone’s throw from the shopper’s paradise of Harvey Nics and Harrods,  it’s also an amazing venue that has hosted some truly magical celebrations. We asked Anna at Evolve events to tell us a little more about this classy London location, and what goes on behind the scenes there today…

// Tell us a little bit about Kent House… What’s its history?

Kent House Knightsbridge is a beautiful townhouse with a rich, royal history. The first house was built in 1790 and was rented by Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, and son of George III who enlarged it and (modestly!) named it after his own title. Prince Edward installed his mistress in the house and had a tunnel built underneath the road linking the house to Kensington Palace and enabling secret rendezvous. Unfortunately, he was constantly in debt and his beloved mistress did not stay long in Kent House. Prince Edward later married and went on to have a daughter, the future Queen Victoria. In 1870 the house was rebuilt and turned into a remarkable salon by Lady Noble, the granddaughter of pioneer railroader Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Lady Nobel invited leading musicians of the day and the famous Les Ballet Russes to perform and celebrated actors and actresses of the day were entertained there. Lady Noble left Kent House in 1940 when, like so many other London landmarks, the needs of war transcended the need for luxury living and the building was taken over as wartime offices. The house was acquired by Westminster Synagogue in 1960 and a third renaissance of the building began as the glories of the house were restored and it now hosts exclusive events for private individuals and leading brands.

// What makes it stand out as a venue?

It’s the largest surviving townhouse of its kind. When you hire the venue you get the complete house with all of its rooms which can be used to provide a different pace across the course of the event, as guests move through the building enjoying different rooms. Guests are often welcomed downstairs and we host conferences and dinner dances upstairs in what was the original ballroom, with guests able to step out onto our terrace, where we also hold BBQs in the summer. The history of the building means it has beautiful features such as our atrium ceiling, the beautiful cornicing of the walls and our black and white tiled floor in the Marble Hall, yet it is also neutrally decorated, giving great scope for branding and our clients often project logos and images onto the walls and even the outside of the venue.

// Is there a particular part of Kent House that has the most wow factor?

For me it would have to be the staircase. It’s grand, has a red carpet along with beautiful iron work and our guests love it. It’s a beautiful feature and we’ve had everyone from bridal wedding parties, to the Household Cavalry and models posing on it. We’ve also decorated it over the years in many styles, often with flowers and once with a real grass runner, which filled the whole house with the scent of summer.

// You’re situated in super-exclusive Knightsbridge, what are the best bits of this location?

Well there are the obvious retail delights of Harrods and Harvey Nics! The window displays at Christmas are worth a trip in their own right. If you do decide to buy something at Harrods, make sure you leave the store with its signature green bag! We’re blessed to be opposite Hyde Park so we often go for a walk around the Serpentine at lunchtime, and of course some of London’s finest museums are on our doorstep. We love to get lost in the rooms of the V&A or attend their free late night openings which are always great fun.

// What kind of events are you most known for hosting at Kent House? What are some of the most memorable you’ve hosted?

The house offers a light and neutral space within a grand setting and is popular for a range of events from weddings, receptions, private dinners, conferences, product launches, corporate events to Christmas parties. Each Christmas we style the venue differently building our own bar and installing different furniture and styling and have seen it full of glitz and glamour for a Hollywood theme to chic and elegant for this year’s Scandi theme. The venue is often used as a dry hire and completely styled to suit the event. We’ve had a Wonderland party with playing cards projected on the outside and a White Rabbit greeting guests, for Lancôme we changed our red carpet to pink to match their branding and for a private party we created a White Peacock installation at the top of the staircase with a floral tail that flowed all around our staircase. And of course we will always try and incorporate any special requirements, even installing an enormous palm tree for a Caribbean wedding party.

// Who are the team involved at Kent House, and how do they all play a role in the day-to-day running?

We work with Evolve Events, an award-winning events management agency who take pride in getting the detail right, and providing all the elements needed to style your event. It’s often the details of an occasion that everyone remembers, so we spend a lot of time getting them right and our team is known for its seamless service and attention to detail. We also recognise that every event is unique; one day we might be styling the venue to suit a modern wedding and then the next day, creating a 1920s themed conference. One of the most lovely features of the venue is its flexibility and to maximise this, we work with a range of partners to help us create a different look and feel but also to reflect the different budgets allocated to different events.

// How did your collaboration with Kalm Kitchen come about, and what is it about them that made them stand out as one of your approved caterers?

We’d followed Kalm Kitchen on Instagram and drooled over the beautiful food and we knew we just had to try it for ourselves. The presentation is second to none and we love the importance that is placed on how the food appears. After a tasting we were delighted to discover the food tastes just as sublime as it looks, with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal produce. We got together to discuss menus and ideas for Kent House as we knew our clients would love Kalm Kitchen’s approach to food. One of our favourite dishes is the shared plates, which always get guests chatting and interacting with each other.

// What would you say are the ingredients for success when someone is planning a menu for their wedding day or special celebration?

Don’t be afraid to ask. Work with your planner to explore different ideas of what you want. Their experience should guide you to what you can and can’t make work for your venue and budget. There’s so much to plan and think about in an event and it’s often the little details that guests remember. So, take it one step at a time and leave the paperwork, planning (and stress!) to your event manager.

// Can you reveal any of the secrets that would make an event at Kent House completely memorable? How do you go the extra mile to ensure every event is a success?

Event planning is so varied and the levels of detail in each one is incredible. We have tried and tested structures in place to make sure everything goes well on the day. Making an event memorable is often about surprising guests and trying to do something different. One of our favourite recent examples was an edible invitation, made of gingerbread, which got guests excited before they even arrived. People often think working in events is glamorous and of course there is an element of that – I particularly love working with our amazing florists! – but it’s also about not being afraid to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in, especially at the last minute if extra guests arrive or have different dietary requirements. Flexibility and an ability not to panic is the key!

// What exciting things have you got coming up at Kent House over the next few months?

September is always about Christmas planning and we’re doing lots of food tastings at the moment. We’re also putting the final touches to our summer packages for next year. We’re really excited about our new second outdoor terrace which is really pretty and we think guests will love it for receptions and photo opportunities.

// If someone was interested in hosting an event at Kent House, how should they get in touch?

You’ll find us on the usual social media platforms @kenthouseSW7 and you can email us at kenthouseknightsbridge.org or call us on 0207 591 3838. Gary and Kim both love to chat about events so will be delighted to arrange a show around and chat about your event ideas over a glass of fizz.

A Day In The Life

There’s nothing quite as satisfying as seeing an amazing event or celebration come to life. But have you ever wondered how much hard work and planning goes on behind the scenes? We took a peek at a day in the life of Kalm Kitchen Event Manager Hannah Woodley as she helped make one couple’s dream of their perfect day come true!

‘Event planning is so varied, and here at Kalm Kitchen no day is ever the same. That’s one of the many reasons I love it. Some of our clients plan their event over three years, and others plan them in three months.

One of the most significant factors of event planning is the amount of detail that goes into every single event, regardless of whether it is a corporate dinner for 30 people, or a wedding for 200 people. Here at Kalm Kitchen we have a structured, sequential process that runs across all departments of the business, from the office team to event managers, kitchen, logistics and finance. Every individual has responsibilities, but we all support each other and respect the role each of us plays. At the heart of it, Kalm Kitchen is built on teamwork, which is critical for event planning.

Our commitment to each event starts right from the moment of initial enquiry, through inspiration meetings and onto discussing minute details of logistics and final preparations. There is no typical day as every event is different, and the amount of prep and planning can vary hugely. But here’s an idea of what we might get up to on one super-long day!’

Morning set up:

// It’s typically an 8.30am arrival time on site. That means we’re up with the sun – and rarely home before it sets!

// First task is to greet the venue staff, sign-in process followed and walk through event timings for the day.

// The van will have been already packed, so our job is to unload van with the Head Chef and Porter, checking off all items against the logistics packing list.

// Then the tables are dressed with linen and guest napkins. The theme for the day really starts to take shape now.

// We run through the menu with the chefs and cross-check timings for the day, such as when speeches are happening, when the cake will be cut, presentations etc. A service plan is then planned and written.

// It’s my responsibility to contact waiting staff for the day to confirm arrival times, parking instructions and check correct details have all been received. Then I’ll greet other suppliers such as photographer, videographer, florist, and run through details and timings for the day so everyone is confident, on the same page and all working to the same schedule.

// The fun part – we lay-up tables for the wedding breakfast including bridal styling items, and set up the bar, plus any additional styled stations or features for pre-ceremony. For this wedding we had an interactive ‘Pimp your Prosecco’ station, with items such as passion fruit, raspberries and cassis. Later on guests were invited to ‘Pimp their Gin’!

// Shortly before guests are due, I liaise with main point of contact, ie; MC, party planners etc, then waiting staff arrive around half an hour before guests arrive. I’ll hold a team briefing with front of house, waiting team and the chef team, walking through the entire event: timings, menu, staff roles & responsibilities so no detail is left to chance!

Event goes live:

// Guests arrive and drinks and canapés reception starts, which lasts for around one and a half hours. Beautiful, styled drinks and canapés are circulated, and we always create a canapé tray that is exclusively designed for the Bride and Groom or VIP guests hosting the event.

// During the reception, final touches are made – candle lighting, icing of jugs, triple checking the table plan against the laid-up tables, aligning place settings, steaming of tablecloths if required etc.

// We try to sneak the photographers and videographers into the venue where the main meal is taking place to capture the final setting, closely followed by the Bride and Groom. If we’re lucky, their reactions to seeing all of their hard work, planning and ideas brought to life is caught on camera!

// Announcement is made for guests to check the table plan before making their way to the dining room and take their seats. Guests are poured with initial drinks or toast drink if speeches are due to take place before the meal. During speeches, our waiting team set up stations such as tea and coffee, patisserie bars etc. to add a show-stopping surprise to the end of the meal.

// Food is plated up, service begins, and everyone tucks into the menu we have spent months creating!

Evening structure:

// At the end of any seated meal, Kalm Kitchen provides a staffed tea and coffee station, complimented with some delicious petit fours, which is set up alongside the evening bar.

// The band starts up pretty quickly at the end of the meal and the evening party commences! Depending on the event, cake cutting is soon after the end of the meal and flows straight into the first dance so that the Bride and Groom or event hosts can relax and enjoy a drink and get stuck into the evening party with their guests.

// During this point the waiting team start clearing the tables of any items left over from the meal that are no longer required, refocusing attention back to the intricate bridal styling items and stunning floral centerpieces. Cake is carried away back to the kitchen where our chefs cut up what is required and style it beautifully for guests to help themselves to throughout the evening.

// The front of house team is reduced to the required amount for evening food service and staffing the bar if we are running it. Food continues to be circulated, grazing stations are maintained, replenished and cleared until the end of the event.

// The last leg of the event is loading up the catering van (there’s an in-house joke about who’s best at playing Tetris!) and leaving our kitchen sparkling ready for the next adventure. Then it’s home to bed for a much-needed rest!

Sarah & Nick

No doubt about it, summer is officially wedding season and this year we’ve seen some truly stunning celebrations. Sarah and Nick chose the beautiful surroundings of Micklefield Hall to host their stylish summer party. Their brief was to blend timeless elegance with country styling, and they managed to achieve a refined simplicity, which ran right the way through the whole proceedings.

Nick works for Tyrrells, and Sarah works in international hospitality, so they both have an exceptional eye for detail and a clear idea of the aesthetic they wanted to create. Expectations were high for the day, but thankfully, at Kalm Kitchen we love a challenge, and we agreed on a menu that showcased seasonal flavours and provided a treat for the eyes too! Canapés consisted of winning combinations such as beetroot cured salmon paired with sweet dill and mustard, and Pork Belly on creamy apple Dauphinoise; while for the main meal, a roasted fillet of beef took centre stage.

As a playful nod to Nick’s work, the couple had two giant bags of popcorn specially commissioned, with their faces printed on them, which sat alongside our popcorn wall. Guests commented what a fantastic day it was, and it was definitely a real pleasure for us to achieve such a seamless service for this gorgeous couple. They got in touch shortly afterwards with this feedback…

‘We genuinely can’t thank you and the team enough for everything you did throughout the planning process and on the big day. You were so helpful in walking us through everything and in making decisions (especially when we couldn’t make them) and we have loved working with you, we couldn’t have asked for a better caterer and wedding planner. So many people commented on the day what a fantastic job you were doing, and in particular my Dad wanted to pass on his thanks as he was so was impressed with how you managed the day.

You made the whole day seamless and the timings worked perfectly. The food was also insanely good, I’ve never heard so many comments about a meal, with the beef top of everyone’s comment list, it was all delicious. Everyone says that as a bride you don’t eat that much, but I ate every last bite of every course – it was too good not to.

Best of luck with the rest of this summers wedding…wish we could do it all again.

Belinda and Dominic

Who: Belinda and Dominic | When: July 2018 | Where: The Garden Museum, London

Situated on the banks of the River Thames, in the imposing shadows of the Houses of Parliament, The Garden Museum provided the astonishing setting for Belinda and Dominic’s classy, city wedding. With a brief to capture a clean, botanical and fresh mood, which reflected London life, we were thrilled to conjure up a modern, original menu for them.

Guests arrived at 5pm to start the drinks and canapé reception, while a chorus of strings played in the background. This was very much an evening affair, so with that in mind, we went for an array of stylish combinations, which were bursting with flavour. With crisp, contemporary styling at the heart of the day, we accessorised with an understated palette of white, with a touch of gold and an abundance of green accents provided by vibrant foliage.

Children were catered for with their very own menu, which was just as stylish as the grown-ups’, and vegetarians tucked into an indulgent Moussaka, while a rump of perfectly cooked new season lamb took centre stage – served up and carved at the table.

With the wedding party and all the guests happily fed, soul band The Suggestions took to the stage with an amazing set, which really brought the party alive. This was followed by DJ Chris Binns on the decks, with the music continuing long into the evening.

This was certainly a day to remember – chic, memorable and full of big city spirit. The bride and groom contacted us afterwards with this glowing feedback…

‘Dom and I would like to express our gratitude to you for all you did to make our wedding on Saturday special. In the run up to the day you had endless patience with all our questions, and helped us negotiate our way through the huge mountain of organisation to ensure that we had every part of the day planned out to a tee.

Under your leadership, the Kalm Kitchen team did a brilliant job and everything from the drinks reception through to the three-course meal and bar felt totally seamless. We particularly appreciated your efforts to keep Dom and myself fed and watered with your personal service during the drinks reception – eating and drinking definitely had been low on our agenda the whole day so it was great to be reminded to do that!

In terms of the food, the meal was excellent and we have had a lot of people say that it is the best wedding food that they have ever had. The lamb in particular was perfectly cooked, and we would be grateful if you could pass on our compliments to the chef. The service too was slick and unobtrusive, and the team members were polite and courteous.

With thanks again to both you and Kalm Kitchen for making our day special.

Best wishes

Bea and Dom xx

Micklefield Hall

We’re lucky enough to work with some fabulous venues, and we’re extremely proud to call ourselves exclusive catering partners to Micklefield Hall. With its stunning country house surroundings and views that still take our breath away, it’s the perfect setting for all kinds of special days. Here’s just a little on why we love it so much…

Where… Just outside Rickmansworth, in Hertfordshire. A short hop from the M25.

What… A beautifully restored private house and 16th Century Barn, which seats up to 200 guests. Inside you’ll find a separate bar, bridal changing room, luxury loos, sophisticated lighting, under-floor heating, air conditioning and purpose built kitchens. The Great Barn boats a cloistered walkway and a French fountain as well as a lovely terrace for drinks and a garden room with open log fire.

Not only that, but environmentally conscious and with an on-going sustainability program, Micklefield now has solar panels generating green energy, a bore hole to provide the farm with pure drinking water and a biomass boiler which heats the barn with wood from the Estate. 20 Ruby Red Devon cattle graze in the Parkland and Oxford Sandy & Black pigs rootle in the paddocks.

We love… When weather permits, the outside grounds of Micklefield make such a gorgeous backdrop for outside ceremonies and celebrations. As well as the spectacular gardens, there’s also a temple by the pond. Truly magical!
