Camilla & Robert

Who: Camilla & Robert | When: Saturday 3rd June 2017 | Where: Private Marquee Wedding in Chiddingstone, Kent

Camilla and Robert’s stunning wedding aimed to capture every beauty of the British countryside, and it truly did! A self-sown wild flower meadow of Ox-eye daisies, cornflowers and poppies in Camilla’s parent’s garden set the scene for guests to walk through to the magnificent marquee. Guests were greeted with a selection of bite-sized canapés presented in vintage, flower-decked cages, while the tables were adorned with beautiful floral table arrangements in a palette of pastels with delicate ferns and foliage, set against a simple white backdrop.

We were tasked with creating a menu, which would celebrate every aspect of the summertime, using seasonal flavours and the most iconic ingredients. Asparagus, peas, Jersey Royals and an abundance of strawberries were the obvious choices to make starring appearances alongside the centrepieces of tender beef or delicate sea bass for our main course.

The day had style, warmth and a real sense of family – with even the couple’s dog and the bride’s horse featuring in the proceedings, and of course the perfect weather conditions helped! What a spectacular summer’s day it was.

The father of the bride contacted us afterwards with these lovely words:

‘Thank you for catering for the wedding on Saturday so brilliantly. Your serving staff were perfect with just the right level of interaction! Needless to say the food was fantastic – everyone said so, but more significantly, four friends in my age group i.e. people who must have been to a lot of weddings including some extremely sumptuous ones, all said that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. If asked, we will definitely recommend you – although if your standards are always that high, I doubt you have many gaps in your diary for years ahead.’

Raising the Bar

At Kalm Kitchen we love coming up with brand new innovations and ideas to bring a personal touch to your proceedings – whether that’s a special event, or your big day. This year we are super-excited to launch four new treat-filled stands, which are guaranteed to see your guests tucking in.

Hole Lotta Love

First up, our doughnut wall, where everyone’s favourite naughty treat is elevated to a ‘hole’ new level. We first introduced this concept around two years ago, but it was so popular we gave it a new fun, freestanding look. Kalm Kitchen’s Jen Middlehurst says, ‘It’s the perfect stop-gap if your guests are arriving early, but you’re having a later ceremony. It’s such fun (kids will love it, of course), and you can really go to town with the decorative elements – like here where we played around with a bold burst of florals and botanicals.’ Gorgeous!

Keep your cool

Hot days often go hand-in-hand with summer weddings, and so our Lemonade and Lolly stand is a refreshing way to keep your guests cool. We work with premium popsicle brand Pops and mix up our own thirst-quenching cloudy lemonade to keep everyone hydrated. Not only does our nostalgic stall look stunning, who wouldn’t be tempted to help themselves to a Champagne or Bellini popsicle, or an alcohol-free iced treat?

Summer summed up!

One of the greatest joys of working with so many creative clients at Kalm Kitchen is finding new ways to present traditional concepts. It’s always such a thrill being able to elevate generic ideas and add a truly innovative edge. What could sum up the British Summer more than our interactive Eton Mess stand featuring an array of meringues, ripe, scarlet-coloured fruits, cream, wildflower & elderflower jelly, pink rhubarb compote, honeycomb and a generous abundance of other irresistible sweetness. Jen says, ‘It’s not just the visual excitement of our Eton Mess stand I adore, it’s also the fact that the interaction invites everyone to get up from the table, graze, get involved, and lose any sense of formality.’

Comfort & Joy

Of course, summer brings all kinds of opportunities for edible treats, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a mix of mouthwatering options for autumn and winter events. Our Hot Chocolate & Honeycomb stand is the ultimate in comforting and cosy indulgence. Rich, melting hot chocolate is served up with marshmallows, Oreos and crumbly chocolate, with a side order of bubbly, crunchy honeycomb. Yum! When designing this concept, the Kalm Kitchen team wanted it look as good as all the elements tasted. Jen explains, ‘Styling this stand was a dream – we worked with copper tones, and geometric honeycomb shapes for an earthy, autumnal vibe. Imagine the warm welcome this visual feast would give your guests on a cold, dreary day.’

Confident approach

Pete thank you so much for all your hard work yesterday. You and your team helped make Karen and Dan’s day go perfectly.

It was important to us that we had people with us on the wedding journey that we were comfortable and happy with and you suited that perfectly. Your smiling face and confident approach put us at ease all day.

We also loved the food. I have had so many compliments about the food from our guests. I was also very impressed with the serving staff as well. I loved the way you directed them to each table to remove the plates.

My thanks again.

Regards. Julie Forde

Tremendous support

Hi Pete,

Thank you for your email, you beat me to it! I was going to send you an email to thank you for your tremendous support and organisation of our day.

Sam and I have both had a superb experience with Kalm Kitchen – right from the start everyone we have dealt with has been friendly, efficient and always quick to get back to us with any queries we had. The food on the day was incredible – we had so many positive comments from our guests.

Pete, you were just brilliant, organising everything so well and ensuring that the whole day ran smoothly, which it did. You were even kind enough to help me with my dress!!

We’ll be recommending Kalm Kitchen to all our family and friends as we had a truly enjoyable experience. Please thank all of the team on our behalf. Once we get our photos through from the photographer, we’ll be sure to send some over to you.

All best wishes,

Becky and Sam
